Limitations

Where does my video get uploaded?
Nowhere. Compression happens in your browser, on your device — the file is never sent to a server and never leaves your computer or phone.
How do I compress a video without losing quality?
Truly lossless compression is not possible — reducing size always changes the picture. On high-quality presets the difference is barely visible, though. For email and messengers use the stronger presets: the file gets several times smaller.
What is the maximum file size?
There is no hard limit — the only constraint is your device's memory. Videos tens of minutes long work fine, but very long files may not fit into tab memory on weaker devices.
Is it free? Will there be a watermark?
Free and watermark-free. No sign-up required either.
What format will the result be in?
MP4 or WebM — the codec is picked automatically for your browser. MOV and MKV sources are accepted too; their result is saved as MP4 or WebM.
My iPhone video shows no preview. What now?
iPhones record in HEVC, and not every browser can preview it. Compression itself usually still works. If it does not, convert the file to MP4 (H.264) with our converter and try again.
